It started, as most good things do, with one person who cared deeply about what they were making.
After the Palace
He traded royal halls for a small village eatery. The idli didn't change. Only the dining room did. Neighbours became his new royalty. Every morning, he prepared idlis with the same devotion.
Today, A Promise
Three generations on, we asked ourselves what Madappa avaru always knew – a truly good idli deserves to be everywhere. Madappa Idli is that promise kept. Authentic Chiblu Idlis, steamed in organic bamboo, now for the world to devour.

The Royal Kitchen, 1952
Madappa avaru found his calling inside the Mysuru Palace. Years of steam and stone with the Chiblu Idli as his quiet masterpiece. Mysuru knew him by his moustache. History knows him by his recipe.
The Revival
The daughter remembered her father’s passion. She lit the stove again. Same batter, same chutney, with the same unhurried care. Some things are too good to let go quietly.

Tangy tamarind rice tempered with mustard seeds, curry leaves, peanuts & aromatic spices.


Rice Bath
A Karnataka-style masala rice dish cooked with mixed vegetables and ground coconut-based spices.


Lemon Rice
Zesty rice tossed with fresh lemon juice, turmeric, mustard seeds, green chilli & peanuts.


Combo Rice
A wholesome plate of two rice varieties of your choice, served with chutney.


Masala Vada/Dal Vada
Crispy deep-fried lentil patties spiced with onions, chillies & coriander. Served with chutney.


Uddina/Medu Vada
Classic South Indian doughnut-shaped urad dal vada. Served with chutney.


Rice Bonda
Golden fried rice flour dumplings, served with chutney.


Maddur Vada
A famous crispy flat vada from Maddur town, made with rice flour, semolina, onions & curry leaves.
